Ambient - Volume 1 User Comments ../../%7Bshort%20description%20of%20image%7D

i bought ambient 1 just after it came out, mainly because of the fact that it was the first of its kind.

i expected to get 70 minutes of nature noises and gentle pad sounds so i was really disappointed when i found out there were percussions and waveforms and all these unrelated stuffs.

fortunately, those very few ambient sounds it has are pretty good and worth the price of the whole disc. and listening to the rain or fire sounds, these are just a bit *warmer* than the sounds you would hear on a pro sound effects library.

i dont really appreciate sounds like "jet phase" ( wow, you can really put white noise thru a flanger !! ) or whatsoever lfo twiddle fx ( yawn ), but then, i am quite nitpicky and i dont know any cd without a number of sounds i hate.

if i were to rate that disc, it might look like:

  • - sound quality: 9 out of 10, a little noisy at times but its sooo warm and cuddly at times
  • - selection: 8 out of 10 if you dont have too many cds and can always use that "bit of everything", 5 out of 10 for people like me who dont want more than exactly whats labeled
  • - originality: back then, it might have been 9 out of 10 for its uniqueness, compared to today´s "specialists" it might be a 6 out of 10
  • - value for money: 7 out of 10, retained that high value with the excellent ambient samples
