Ambient - Volume 1 Page 4 ../../%7Bshort%20description%20of%20image%7D

Summary. Audio quality throughout is excellent, some sounds have some artefact noise, picked up from the instruments themselves, you may be able to filter some of this out with some noise reduction software, but if your using the sample well into a mix in no case is it dominant.

I'd have preferred that the sounds be grouped a little better, if your trying to audition for some sorts of sounds you'll be hitting the skip button on your CD a lot, on the other hand some trouble has been taken to list every sample and give it a unique name, that way it's easy to listed through the CD a few times and mark on the cover the samples to earmark for use at a later date.

There is more variety on the CD than you might expect by taking the title alone, more sound effects, industrial sounds, percussive sounds and so forth. This widens the appeal of the CD quite somewhat, many genres of music or music production will be able to make use of parts of this CD. On the other hand if your strictly looking for an ambient tool kit CD you may be just a touch disappointed.

If your into almost any kind of electronic music then I would recommend this CD wholeheartedly, there are whole range of very usable sounds here along with some killer pads and atmosphere "track dominating" sounds. For serious samplists there are a whole host of waveforms to manipulate, if your making sounds tracks or computer games likewise there is material here that you can use.

Score. Thoroughly recommended - 8/10.
