Ambient - Volume 2 Page 3 ../../%7Bshort%20description%20of%20image%7D

Track 35 has 3 interesting metal drone atmospheres, scraping, evolving textures, very good.

Track 36 has assorted "radio noises & FX", rough on the ear, high pitched staccato, blips and interference sorts of sounds.

Track 37 "Machine room atmospheres" has 9 very low pitched atmospheric rumble/drone evolving sorts of sounds, quite soft, deep throbbing pulsing in places. If your looking for "spacecraft engine room" sound then its here. Really good track.

Track 38 has four arpeggio atmospheres, sort of thing mixed high to dominate a track or mixed low to underpin a lead line on top, very good again.

Tracks 39-46 we have 107 analogue, synthetic, metal and bell percussion samples. We get the whole range here, bass drums, white noise hits (Depeche Mode circa 1985 anyone ?), kraftwerk like blips and hits, bells, pings, sweeps, echo effects and scrapes. Quite a range and very different, if you want to build an original rhythm track then the ingredients are here.

Track 47 "Analogue rhythmic synth fx" has 7 samples of loops and bleeps, the standout one here is the pitter patter loop, a little anonymous but the more useable for it.

Tracks 48-53 offer vocoded rhythm loops (15 all at 120 bpm) and hits, robotic counting and speech. The loops are a little different, some are a little kraftwerk like, others are quite industrial sounding, generally very good, wished there was more as this is quite an unusual and original sounding section. The counting and speech are so so, if your looking for a spot effect they are here.

Tracks 54, 57, 59-61 & 63. are showcases of the Memorymoog and Oberheims, sections like "Big fat analogue synth pads" and "Big analogue synths" give you the idea. 36 samples of powerful, fat analogue basses and lead lines. For that they are generally less overpowering than the samples at the beginning of the CD and therefore perhaps rather more useable. There are some excellent sounds here, if your looking for a real powerful sound then you won't go far wrong here.

Tracks 55, 56, 58 & 62 are the same synths producing more offbeat effects, blips, burbles, pulses, distortion and the like. There are some quite nice effects here, if you can find a use for them of course.

Track 64 has a very nice sample of a vector synth drone pitched at C2, C3, C4, whilst tracks 65 and 66 have vocoder "ahhhhs" . Just a couple of really excellent samples here, again wish there were more of these, different and original.

Tracks 67-69 offer 27 PPG waves. There are only 13 sounds, several are multisamples given at different pitches. There are some nice sounds in here, quite simple and understated when compared to many of the samples on this CD, but none the worse for it.

Finally tracks 70-74 give us 10 very long space "samples", atmospheric drones with quite a lot going on, most of them really complete tracks on their own. Some of these are around the minute mark, so you may wish to chop them up just using the part that appeals. I get the impression almost that this section has been bolted on to add a few minutes at the end of the CD. They're almost demo space music tracks, would have been better to either just provide the consituant parts either on their own or with these tracks.
