Summary - Audio quality generally is good, the sounds throughout are very bright and punchy, and "in your face" generally. I suspect there has been a lot of careful processing to get the sounds sounding this way, probably something like a "Loudness" process. Some of the samples are deliberately lo-fi and grungy, which isn't a defect of the recording process, but the way they are supposed to sound. There is some noise in places, many times its not noticeable, but on a few of the quieter sounds you may want to do some noise reduction processing, though a couple may be beyond redemption. Additionally in a lot of places there is a quiet crackling sound, almost as if the samples were sourced from vinyl, whilst this adds to the "gritty" character of much of the CD it can be a tad distracting. This CD will appeal most to people who are looking to make hard sounding dance tracks, aka the Prodigy. Other genres, industrial, drum & bass or hard-core techno will be able to make use of some of the sounds here. Some sections may appeal to other categories, if you want radio samples then there is a large selection here, and the pads section is very good. For the other sections the appeal could well be less. The drum loops are original and sound good, but focus on quite a narrow sound and style, so they may not appeal to a wide audience. There are some good gated sounds, again though this distinctive sound may not have appeal for everyone. This is the sort of CD that if it fits the sort of sound you are looking to create then you'll come back to it again and again. Otherwise you may have difficulty in placing some of the very distinctive sounds presented here, I'd suggest if at all possible that you audition the sounds on this CD to see if the sounds are ones you like and can use. Overall - Recommended for hard edged sounding music producers, otherwise take a listen first - 7/10.
