Laidback Page 2/3

New York - 22 loops & 2 fills - the collection starts off with a fairly straightforward collection of loops. Very open sounding as is most of the CD. Just sounds like someone sitting there playing the drums, which no doubt it is. The is nothing in the way of overt effects or fancy percussive sounds. Just solid drum loops.

70's Ballad - 25 loops, 8 fills, 3 hi-hat/ride loops & 12 hits - not entirely dissimilar from the previous collection, perhaps a little gentler sounding as you would expect from the title.

Sylvian - 24 loops - For anyone familiar with David Sylvian/Japan type tracks then these are the sort of slow drum loops that would be suitable for backing that kind of sound. My favourite part of the collection, little bit different from the other sections, slightly different percussive sounds being used.

Lanois - 10 loops & 2 variations - Bit more up tempo and funkier - bearing in mind the parameters of the collection, but still retaining the general feel of the whole collection.

6/8 - 38 loops, 7 fills & 3 hi-hat/ride loops - slightly unusual time signature for those brought up on a diet strictly of 4/4 adds a little variety in form. Good collection, though as with many of the loops here some of the loops you feel need a bit of a kick to get them going. This isn't a critism, its no doubt that's just intention of the collection, guess I'm too used to 150 BPM loops !

Tom Groove - 12 loops - Sounding positively uptempo compared to much of the collection !, though again still fitting in with the overall collection soundwise.

Russ - 5 loops, 6 variations & 3 cymbal/ride loops. Nice little collection of loops, with a nice clicky sort of sound adding a fill effect.

Individual Hits - 48 hits, 2 kicks, 3 snares, 2 rim shots, 8 hi-hats, 10 crash cymbals, 6 ride cymbals, 6 toms, 3 snare flams, 7 tom flams and a cymbal roll. Something a little different from your normal selection of kicks and snares many sample CD's give, particularly the cymbal sounds that often tend to be a little thin on the ground. As with a CD of this type it can't compete with a full price specialist selection, but beats the sounds on most GM soundcards/synths hands down.
