Real Rhodes Page
3/3

Summary
- Audio quality is very good. There is a hint of instrument noise in a place or two, but you would never notice it in use, otherwise the samples are very clean and well recorded with no hint of recording sounds or artefacts.
Real Rhodes is a very well put together collection of Rhodes sounds plus a couple of extra electric piano sounds for good measure. The producers have captured the sound of the various Fender Rhodes piano's and it's difficult to imagine anyone being able to produce a significantly better collection. Essentially the collection does exactly what it sets out to do, captures the sound of the Rhodes for your sampler.
If your a fan of the Rhodes or are looking to add the authentic sound to your music then you should seriously consider this CD. I certainly wouldn't let the fact that the release is from a small independant company worry you. It is a quality, if limited in range, production.
Must say that these sorts of sample CD's aren't the easiest to write, so apologies for regular visitors who note that this one is a bit shorter than normal. I could have summerised it in about two lines!
I think the only downside I can come up with is the pricing, $139 is a little expensive I feel for the volume of material on offer, only just over 100Mb, where we would typically be looking for 300-400Mb for a full priced release. Whilst Real Rhodes isn't a full priced release, it's not far short. Perhaps offering 32Mb multisamples as well would be one alternative. Especially with this type of release, where the creative input is less than on many releases, the price/quantity equation I I feel does become a more important factor.
Certainly if your a Kurzweil owner and are looking for the genuine Rhodes sound then this collection can be thoroughly recommended for serious consideration
Overall - Value for
money 6/10 - Usability 9/10 - Documentation 7/10 - Sonic Quality 8/10. Have a Fender Rhodes in your sampler - 8/10
