K-Class - Soundisc Series
Page 4/4

Summary - Audio quality is excellent. There are a few samples with a little noise, though this is almost certainly noise from the machines being sampled from and not from any defect in the recording process, which overall sounds very polished. In the case of some of the percussive and bass sounds this noise may have been quite deliberately left in to add a little grit to the sounds.

One thing with the CD though is the use of effects, I'd say rather more than your average sample CD. Maybe not to everyone's taste, especially when layering a number of sounds, can leave a mix quite literally swimming in reverb. Does give a polished edge to the samples, but maybe a little more grit and bite wouldn't have gone amiss in places.

This collection certainly shouldn't be thought of as just a Mixman product, but also as a regular sample CD, and a very good one at that too. Mixman users will get the most from the collection, the easiest, simply because the samples have been specifically set up for them. Though those using .Wav format won't have much work to do to introduce these sounds into their tracks. Audio samplists will want to do a bit pruning of the loops, but there is a lot of usable material here.

If your looking to make Euro/House/Techno type tracks with either Mixman products or more mainstream sequencers/samplers then you really can't go wrong with this collection. It is very straightforward to produce a decent, polished sounding dance track, though you'd probably want to go outside the collection to introduce some originality, especially for the vocals and pad like sounds.

As ever with a "budget" type release you wished there were more samples, especially drum loops, the backbone of a track, but you can't have everything, and you do get 3 different formats for your money.

Overall - For Mixman users wanting to make Euro/techno/house tracks - 9/10, for other sample users - 8.5./10.
