Hamburg Loopz 2 Page 3/3
Summary - Audio quality is good. On the audio version of the loops a number have a click at the end, doesn't effect the loop as you'd edit this off when sampling them, but is a bit aggravating when auditioning. There is some extreme processing in places, especially distortion, and on a few loops there is quite a differential on levels within a loop, one element, usually the distorted one being very prominent. Might need a little EQ to tone it down a little if not to your taste. Hamburg Loopz 2 will appeal to quite a narrow range of musicians, namely those looking to make dance orientated tracks with a electronic Germanic/Euro type feel to them. If that is what your looking for then this is certainly a release worthy of your attention and your bound to find some material here that you'll want to use. The programming generally is good with quite a variety of styles and techniques used to create a range of loops from the straightforward to the intricate, without ever getting far from the overall feel of the collection. Whilst the source material limits the sounds of the loops produced to a degree, the producers have been very creative in the variety of sounds they have been able to produce from these vintage drum machines, moving them away from the regular 808 style loops. On the downside some of the loops are a perhaps little too experimental and some of the similar sounding variations could have been dropped in favour of some more unique loops. All in all though a very well presented package that if it meets the genre your interested in is well worth a look. Overall - Value for money 8/10 - Usability 6/10 - Documentation 10/10 - Sonic Quality 7/10. Electronic loops with a Teutonic flavour - 7/10 Click here to go to the Wizoo website - They have demo tracks online
