Summary - Audio quality is excellent. There is no detectable noise or audio glitches. The samples are very clean, one kit is deliberately dry sounding, otherwise the sound is open and very natural.

I'll have to admit that I don't like reviewing CD's like this one - 2 CD's of perfect sounding drum and percussive hits - totally boring to listen to in isolation. Can't imagine how it must have been to make, painstaking I would suspect judging by the size and number of samples that a kit contains. The reason I don't like reviewing this sort of CD simply because it could be summarised in one line - If you want a realistic sounding acoustic drum library for your sampler then you won't find anything better than Platinum24.

This CD won't appeal to everyone, there is nothing in the way of inspiration here, no instant tracks. Just a lot of very high quality drums sounds, the range of kits isn't huge, but certainly covers all mainstream areas and I know that there is an electronic drums sounds follow-up in the pipeline to increase the sonic range. But if it's acoustic drums you want I can't think you'll find anything of a higher quality.

You'll need to do quite a bit of spadework with this CD to get the best out of it, but the raw material is certainly here to make the rhythm element of a track come to life, there is lots of subtle variation within the collection that will enable users to incorporate this into their music. Perhaps making the difference between a sterile track and a vibrant one.

I wouldn't suggest this CD to a beginner in the sampling world, but for anyone who is looking for a library of high quality acoustic drums sounds then this CD is recommended without hesitation. I imagine the people at Wizoo came up with idea of producing the highest possible quality acoustic drums sounds CD, may not be a very original or exciting project, but I'd like to see anyone do a better job than this.

Overall - Value for money 9/10 - Usability 10/10 - Documentation 8/10 - Sonic Quality 10/10. Indeed a platinum collection of drum sounds - 10/10
